Databricks consulting for Los Angeles companies
Your migration has stalled on the question licensors, customs brokers and finance all ask, which asset, record or shipment a figure came from. Unity Catalog lineage answers it, and a Genie layer over the same tables lets a producer or a dispatcher ask in plain English without losing the citation. In Los Angeles that's studio rights data and container records from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, as well as apparel brands.

Entertainment and the media infrastructure underneath it, aerospace in the South Bay, and the largest port complex in the western hemisphere. If you're in any of them, you hold audience, rights or logistics data at a scale where provenance is part of the answer.
TechFabric is a Databricks partner with an award-winning Databricks engineering team, 80 of them Databricks-certified, and a Temporal partner. Where a system reaches past the workspace we build on Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.

What databricks consulting covers
Migration off Snowflake, Synapse and Teradata
Run through TechFabric Airlift, with executable playbooks for twenty-seven source platforms, signed migration certificates, and a cutover you can reverse at two in the morning.
Unity Catalog governance
Catalogue and schema design, a grant model expressed through groups, row filters and column masks, and lineage that survives a refactor. The boundary your agents and Power BI inherit.
Lakeflow pipelines
Ingestion and Lakeflow jobs with schema evolution handled rather than hoped for, medallion boundaries drawn on purpose, and jobs that recover instead of restarting from zero.
Databricks Apps and agents
Applications that run inside the workspace under their own service principal, and agents on Unity Gateway that inherit catalogue permissions instead of routing around them.
Genie and AI/BI
Metric definitions agreed with the person who owns the number, and a benchmark suite Genie has to keep passing, so the answer holds up when finance checks it.
Cost that somebody can defend
Cluster policies, warehouse sizing, file layout and the queries that actually pay. Instrumented at build time rather than discovered on an invoice.
Rights follow the content
Los Angeles is where SAG-AFTRA bargains and the studios in Burbank and Culver City keep their catalogues, where a licence is rarely a yes or no. Rights differ by territory, window and medium. Under California's AB 2602, a clause allowing a performer's digital replica can be unenforceable when it doesn't describe the use specifically and the performer had no lawyer or union negotiating for them. Retrieval that can't name its source contract can't show it stayed inside any of that.
The usual mistake is treating rights as a filter applied after retrieval, a list of blocked titles checked at the end. It misses the partial cases, such as the clip cleared for promotion in the US and nowhere else. We'd put the licence terms in the index beside each asset, so retrieval only ever sees what the person asking may use, and the citation is the proof.
So the first two weeks go on the rights data before anyone chooses a model. We take one catalogue, find where its terms really live, usually a rights system, a spreadsheet and the contracts themselves, and agree with your rights team what a correct answer has to cite. Retrieval gets built for that catalogue alone and scored against their questions before a second one joins.
Clients we have done this for
BZZR is a sports-only platform where live games, creator content and podcasts sit under team and talent control, and a pipeline indexes thousands of hours of partner video into a sports graph. Anyone holding a catalogue of owned and partner content has that indexing problem, and Databricks there also carries the analytics that tell a club who watched.
Sports media
BZZR
BZZR needed one platform for live games, creator video and podcasts, with analytics on Databricks that tell a club who actually watched, and our senior engineers built it through to production. When the Texas Rangers moved their streaming to it part-way through the 2026 season, existing subscribers came across without signing up again.
How an engagement runs
01
Two weeks, fixed fee
A Databricks Health Check reads the workspace and returns a scorecard: compute cost, job reliability and Unity Catalog gaps, with what to fix first. You keep the document either way.
02
Scope you can defend
For a migration, the two-week Migration Readiness Sprint inventories the estate, agrees exclusions and hands you a wave plan before anyone picks a date.
03
Build in your workspace
The work runs in your workspace and your repository, with your engineers in it from the first week, so the pattern is one they can extend.
04
Hand over with the reasoning
A written record of what was decided and why, which the next platform lead almost never gets.
Two weeks, fixed fee, and a written plan whether or not you build it with us.
Tell an engineer what you want to build
A senior engineer reads it and replies within one business day, usually with the questions that decide the first two weeks.
Around Los Angeles
Data Con LA and a World Tour stop
Databricks' Los Angeles World Tour stop for 2026 is at the Anaheim Marriott, free and by application. The local data community keeps its own calendar. Data Con LA, an annual conference held at Cal State Long Beach in 2026, has a users group that meets between conferences at venues such as ZEFR in Marina del Rey, and Women in Big Data's Southern California chapter meets most often on the Westside.
For a studio or an importer, the hard part of a lakehouse is tracing a figure back to what it came from. Rights data for a film catalogue has to point at the contract, and shipment records from the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach at the container. That tracing must survive once producers and dispatchers start asking questions in plain English, which is why lineage goes in with the first table.

FAQ
Databricks consulting in Los Angeles: common questions
Do you work with Los Angeles companies?
Yes, and with companies across the United States. Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so from March to November we are on the same clock as you and from November to March we are an hour ahead. Either way the working day overlaps almost completely.
Do you have an office in Los Angeles?
The office is in Gilbert, Arizona, with teams in Amsterdam, Dnipro and Hyderabad. Delivery is remote or hybrid, and we travel for discovery, workshops and the opening weeks of a build.
Can retrieval respect per-asset licensing?
Yes, and it has to. Every answer carries the documents behind it, so demonstrating that a system stayed inside its rights is a matter of reading the citation rather than reconstructing what the model saw. For media that is a rights requirement before it is a quality one.
What makes you an award-winning Databricks engineering team?
In September 2026 Prove It, an app built by TechFabric engineer Ivan Vydrin, was named a winner in the Creativity & Originality track of the Databricks Community Genie-Powered App Challenge, placing second worldwide in a contest Databricks ran and judged. The announcement is on community.databricks.com and the code is public.
What level of Databricks partner are you?
TechFabric is a Databricks partner. We don't publish a tier, because tiers measure commercial relationship as much as engineering depth, and we would rather be judged on the bench and the work. Eighty of our engineers are certified, we run our own business on the stack, and the four accelerators we bring are open source.
Learn Databricks first, free
The engineers who do this work wrote a free manual for the platform, forty-three chapters from the account up, with a guided first hour on Free Edition. Most teams have somebody who needs it before anybody needs us.
How to learn Databricks
A path from zero to production: what to read, what to build, which certification is worth sitting, and in what order.
Getting started on Free Edition
From a free account to a governed table, a dashboard, a Genie answer and a small agent, in about an hour and at no cost.
