Databricks partners: what they do and how to check one

A Databricks partner is a firm in Databricks' partner program, and the badge says nothing about who'll be in your workspace when the migration stalls or the agent pilot has to reach production.

TechFabric is a Databricks partner with 80 Databricks-certified engineers in a team of 115+, and the engineers who scope your work build it, from the migration and the Unity Catalog grants to the apps and agents on top.

Most teams start with us on a two-week, fixed-fee Health Check of the workspace they already run, or a Migration Readiness Sprint for the estate they're moving, and keep the written result whether or not they carry on with us.

What companies bring a Databricks partner in for

  • Planning a move onto Databricks and running the cutover
  • Designing Unity Catalog so access, lineage and audit hold up
  • Building pipelines, apps and agents in your own workspace
  • Engineers for a Databricks roadmap your team can't staff
  • A second opinion on a workspace's cost and reliability
  • Teaching your team to run what was built

How the Databricks partner program works

Databricks runs a partner program and lists the firms in it in Find a Partner, its directory. Two kinds of firm sit in it, and they're easy to confuse. Consulting and system integrator partners work in a customer's workspace on migrations, governance, pipelines and applications. ISV and technology partners make products that connect to Databricks, many of them through Partner Connect.

A partner's fees are a separate contract with the partner and never appear on your Databricks bill. Consumption is billed in Databricks Units (DBUs), bought from Databricks directly or through your cloud provider. The workspace, the cloud account and the Unity Catalog metastore stay yours throughout, and your team runs it after handover.

Checking a Databricks partner before you sign

The directory confirms the relationship, and everything else on a shortlist is a claim until you check it. We'd expect any partner to answer these in the first call, and here are our own answers beside them.

Seven things to ask for

  • Their listing in Databricks' partner directory, which this page links to for us
  • How many Databricks-certified engineers they have, and which would be on your project. We have 80, in a team of 115+.
  • A case study naming a client and the platform it left, such as Location Services, off Synapse and SQL Server
  • The code behind any accelerator they bring. Ours are free and open source under Apache-2.0.
  • Who owns the cutover, and what happens when a wave has to come back
  • What their work will do to your Databricks consumption, and how they'll show it
  • Who runs the platform after the engagement ends

Where TechFabric fits as a Databricks partner

We're a software company that went deep on Databricks, so the work we're brought in for usually runs past the lakehouse into what's built on it: the application, the API underneath and the agent on top.

A lot of it starts outside Databricks, with Business Central, CRM and the other systems a business runs on, landed in the lakehouse under Unity Catalog. AutoFabric, our own product for auto lenders, runs on Unity Catalog and Databricks Apps, and an AutoFabric customer confirmed a 40% efficiency gain.

Our engineers publish the Databricks Field Guide and organise the Databricks user groups in Gilbert and Dnipro. In September 2026 Ivan Vydrin, one of them, placed second in Databricks' Genie-Powered App Challenge. The engagements, how they run and what moves their price are on the Databricks consulting page.

FAQ

Databricks partner: common questions

What is a Databricks partner?

A firm in Databricks' partner program. Consulting and system integrator partners plan and build on the platform for customers, and technology partners make products that connect to it. Databricks lists both in its partner directory, which is the place to confirm that a firm's claim is real before you take it further.

Where can we check that TechFabric is a Databricks partner?

In Databricks' own partner directory, which is where any partner's claim should be checked, and this page links straight to our listing there.

Can a Databricks partner lower our Databricks bill?

On a workspace that's already running, often, because the bill follows what runs. Compute sized for the load that actually arrives, jobs moved to serverless where that's cheaper and schedules nobody needs switched off all show up in Databricks' billing system tables. Ask any partner to show you the before and after from those tables rather than an estimate.

Do we need a Databricks partner to buy Databricks?

No. You can buy Databricks directly or through your cloud provider and run it yourselves. A partner earns its fee when your team can't staff the move or the build, when a programme has stalled, or when you want people who've done the migration before to do it once rather than learn it on yours.

Can a Databricks partner work in our existing workspace and cloud account?

Yes, and that's how we work. The workspace, the cloud account and the Unity Catalog metastore stay yours, and our engineers work under identities you grant and can remove. Nothing we build has to be moved back to you at the end, because it never left.

How is a Databricks partner different from Databricks' own professional services?

Databricks offers its own professional services, and a partner is a separate firm you contract directly. Plenty of programmes use both. We'd usually be the team that stays on the roadmap for months, and that works across the systems around Databricks as well, such as the ERP feeding it or the application reading from it.
