An agent reads through the same grants a person would. On Databricks that is Unity Catalog, so a model that tries to reach a table it has no grant for fails the way any principal fails, rather than because the prompt asked it nicely.

AI consulting in New York starts with the question a Department of Financial Services examiner will ask, about which decisions the system touches, who approved them and what record survives. We map those first, then pick the two or three use cases where a bank, an insurer or a Midtown media company gets a measurable return without a model making a call nobody can explain.
The examiner arrives eventually
By 15 April each year, a bank or insurer regulated by New York's Department of Financial Services files either a certification of compliance with Part 500, its cybersecurity rule, or an acknowledgment of where it fell short, signed by its top executive and CISO. Section 500.6 asks for records that can reconstruct material financial transactions, and a public company answers to SOX as well. Both ask a system the same question: who changed what, when, and on whose authority.
Reporting jobs are how most firms answer it, which means a March spent pulling application logs into a spreadsheet that almost reconciles. We'd route every change to money or customer data through one path instead, and write the event that explains it in the same transaction as the change, so the trail can't drift from what happened.
The first two weeks go on finding every path that writes. We map the services, batch jobs and admin screens that can change a balance or a customer record, mark which ones leave evidence today, and give your CISO that map before any code changes. There's usually a writer nobody listed, a reconciliation script or a vendor's back-office screen, and closing it comes first.

The LOSExpress rebuild for SWBC, a lending platform for credit unions, covered the user experience, the design system and the front-end architecture. Orders processed doubled and loan officers spent half the time on each order, which is what a lender or servicer wants to see before replacing a system its staff use all day.

Credit union loan officers quote and book vehicle protection in SWBC's LOSExpress alongside a member's auto loan, but quoting was slow and new staff took too long to learn it. After gathering feedback from SWBC's staff and customers, our engineers and designers rebuilt one of its modules as a single-page application on a new design system. Orders processed doubled, and each loan officer now spends half as long on an order.

DeepLearning.AI's AI Dev NYC takes over Chelsea Piers on 30 November and 1 December, two technical days for engineers building with AI, and Informa's AI Summit New York fills the Javits Center with an enterprise conference and expo on 9 and 10 December. Those two December events show different halves of the New York market. Do you work with New York companies?
Yes, and with companies across the United States. Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so we are two hours behind you from November to March and three hours behind from March to November. That leaves most of your afternoon overlapping our morning, which is usually enough.
Do you have an office in New York?
The office is in Gilbert, Arizona, with teams in Amsterdam, Dnipro and Hyderabad. Delivery is remote or hybrid, and we travel for discovery, workshops and the opening weeks of a build.
Can you satisfy a NYDFS Part 500 review?
We build the evidence the review asks for as a property of the platform rather than as a reporting exercise. Every domain change passes one pipeline, the event that explains it is written in the same transaction, and the trail reconstructs rather than approximates.
What we do not do is certify you: your auditor does that, and our job is to make the answer easy to produce.
What kind of AI development do you do?
Agents that carry state across a long task, retrieval that cites what it used, workflow automation that survives a restart, and the evaluation that tells you whether any of it got better. The common thread is that it has to run unattended and be explainable afterwards, which is a different problem from getting a good answer once.
