A supplier is audited against contracts it didn't write
Detroit's carmakers sit within a short drive of each other, GM downtown, Ford in Dearborn and Stellantis in Auburn Hills, and the suppliers in Troy, Southfield and Livonia sell to all three and often to the German makers too. Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes-Benz ask for a TISAX assessment before they share prototype or project data, so a tier-two supplier is audited against a standard it never negotiated.
Most suppliers treat the assessment as a document exercise, with policies written the month before the auditor arrives. Then the policies describe access the systems can't enforce. We'd rather build the controls into the software itself, with access set per role, a change history that can be shown on request and a dependency list you can account for, so the assessment reads what's already true.
We map where customer data lands before anything else, from EDI feeds and engineering drawings to quality records, and who can read each. That map sets the order of work. The system holding an OEM's prototype data gets its access model first, even when a different system is the one everyone complains about.

Auto lenders and captive finance arms run processes that can't stop halfway, and repossession is a legally sensitive one. This study shows that process rebuilt on Temporal, so every step is recoverable and the full history of what happened is there afterwards.

Location Services
A wrongful repossession, and the penalty that follows, can start with one API call nobody saw fail. Location Services' software sometimes didn't tell a vendor an assignment was closed, and nothing retried the call. Our senior engineers rebuilt that process as a durable workflow on Temporal and put it into production, so every close retries on its own, alerts the operations team when retries run out, and keeps a full history.

Data in the D, a volunteer community, holds Detroit's data calendar together. Its free evenings run roughly monthly at breweries between downtown and Ann Arbor, built around conversation, not talks, and its two-day conference at the College for Creative Studies in New Center pairs a hackathon with a town hall, with Databricks among the sponsors. Wayne State's data science master's, run with the Ilitch School of Business, puts students on manufacturing and supply chain projects.
If your quality records and EDI history still sit in an on-premises warehouse beside the ERP, the migration question and the TISAX question are one question. TISAX is the German auto industry's assessment for suppliers selling into VW, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, and it asks who could read which data. Moving onto Databricks with access set in Unity Catalog first gives the assessor a straight answer and the analysts one copy of the truth.

Do you work with Detroit companies?
Yes, and with companies across the United States. Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so we are two hours behind you from November to March and three hours behind from March to November. That leaves most of your afternoon overlapping our morning, which is usually enough.
Do you have an office in Detroit?
The office is in Gilbert, Arizona, with teams in Amsterdam, Dnipro and Hyderabad. Delivery is remote or hybrid, and we travel for discovery, workshops and the opening weeks of a build.
Can you meet OEM cybersecurity requirements as a supplier?
We build to what those clauses require, which is controlled access, a demonstrable change history and a software supply chain you can account for. Automotive finance and mobility data is the largest concentration in our published work, so the requirements are familiar rather than novel.
