Databricks announced the winners of its Genie-Powered App Challenge on 10 September 2026, and TechFabric is on the list. Prove It, built by Ivan Vydrin, a Databricks engineer on our team, won in the Creativity & Originality track, placing second worldwide in a contest that Databricks ran and judged.
The challenge
Databricks invited its global community to build with Databricks Apps and the Genie agent. Entries were judged in two tracks, Real-World Problem-Solving and Creativity & Originality, and four winners were named across them. The results are on community.databricks.com.
What Prove It is
Prove It is a data-literacy app. A user states a claim, Genie writes the SQL that would test it, and the app shows the query before it shows the result, so the person learns to read the evidence rather than accept a verdict. It runs as a Streamlit app on Databricks Apps, uses the multi-turn Genie Conversation API, and reads four tables governed in Unity Catalog through a SQL warehouse.
