# Databricks consulting in Phoenix

> TechFabric is a Databricks partner in the Phoenix metropolitan area, headquartered in Gilbert, Arizona, where we run the Gilbert Databricks User Group, and an award-winning Databricks engineering team of 80 certified engineers. We migrate warehouses onto Databricks, design Unity Catalog governance, and build the pipelines, apps and agents on top, for companies across Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Chandler, from semiconductor suppliers in Chandler to distribution centres in the West Valley.

Databricks consulting in Phoenix, from an award-winning engineering team

Most Databricks work that reaches us is a platform somebody already bought. The workspace exists, the bill is growing, and the application the business was promised is still a notebook.

## Why Phoenix companies work with us

### Eighty Databricks-certified engineers

The largest Databricks bench in the metro that we know of, and a number you can check. Ask every firm you talk to for theirs, because a certification count is checkable and a partner tier weighs revenue alongside capability.

### Judged by Databricks

In September 2026 an app built by one of our engineers, Ivan Vydrin, was named a winner in the Creativity & Originality track of Databricks' Genie-Powered App Challenge, placing second worldwide. The code is public.

### We build what sits on top

Most Databricks partners stop at the lakehouse and the dashboard. The question that decides whether a platform gets used is who builds the application, the API and the agent above it, and that is what we have done for a decade.

### We run the Databricks user group here

Our CEO, Preetham Reddy, is the lead organizer of the Gilbert Databricks User Group, listed on usergroups.databricks.com. Gilbert is twenty minutes from Tempe and Chandler, and the first weeks of a build go better in a room.

## What databricks consulting covers

### Migration off Snowflake, Synapse and Teradata

Run through TechFabric Airlift, with executable playbooks for twenty-seven source platforms, signed migration certificates, and a cutover you can reverse at two in the morning.

### Unity Catalog governance

Catalogue and schema design, a grant model expressed through groups, row filters and column masks, and lineage that survives a refactor. The boundary your agents and Power BI inherit.

### Lakeflow pipelines

Ingestion and Lakeflow jobs with schema evolution handled rather than hoped for, medallion boundaries drawn on purpose, and jobs that recover instead of restarting from zero.

### Databricks Apps and agents

Applications that run inside the workspace under their own service principal, and agents on Unity Gateway that inherit catalogue permissions instead of routing around them.

### Genie and AI/BI

Metric definitions agreed with the person who owns the number, and a benchmark suite Genie has to keep passing, so the answer holds up when finance checks it.

### Cost that somebody can defend

Cluster policies, warehouse sizing, file layout and the queries that actually pay. Instrumented at build time rather than discovered on an invoice.

## The Valley's numbers peak in July and August

SRP and APS plan the Valley's electricity around summer afternoons, when Phoenix passes 110 degrees and air conditioners from Peoria to Queen Creek run at once. Any business here that runs equipment, cooling or crews outdoors sees July and August in its own data.

That makes the first question a lakehouse here gets asked a seasonal one, whether this summer is worse than last summer and why. Answering it takes years of history at the grain it was recorded, readings by the minute rather than a monthly rollup, and the figures exactly as they stood on the day they were reported.

We'd land the raw readings in Delta tables that are only ever appended to, build the rollups on top with Lakeflow, and write a dated snapshot of each month's figures as they were reported, so last summer reads back exactly as it was reported. Unity Catalog grants decide who sees plant or customer detail. Once the tables beneath it are right, Genie can take the summer question in plain English.

## Where we have done this work

### [Location Services: Synapse and SQL Server onto Databricks](https://www.techfabric.com/case-studies/vrm)

Location Services came off Synapse and SQL Server onto Databricks Lakehouse and Lakebase in reversible waves, converted with TechFabric Airlift. The rules engine that validates a repossession assignment on arrival now reads governed lakehouse data.

### Financial services and lending

Origination, refinancing and servicing data where a wrong number is a compliance question. Auto Approve, iLending and SWBC are on this site with the work named.

### Manufacturing and distribution

Estates that outgrew the systems underneath them, where the data platform and the modernisation are the same project. Funko is written up.

### Sport and media

Audience and event data at scale, including a pipeline stitching 400M+ athlete records across sources.

### Consumer products

Commerce data judged on the day the traffic arrives rather than on the average day.

## How an engagement runs

### Two weeks, fixed fee

A Databricks Health Check reads the workspace and returns a scorecard: compute cost, job reliability and Unity Catalog gaps, with what to fix first. You keep the document either way.

### Scope you can defend

For a migration, the two-week Migration Readiness Sprint inventories the estate, agrees exclusions and hands you a wave plan before anyone picks a date.

### Build in your workspace

The work runs in your workspace and your repository, with your engineers in it from the first week, so the pattern is one they can extend.

### Hand over with the reasoning

A written record of what was decided and why, which the next platform lead almost never gets.

## Questions

### Do you do Databricks consulting in Phoenix?

Yes. TechFabric is a Databricks partner in the Phoenix metropolitan area, at 1530 E Williams Field Rd, Ste 201, Gilbert, AZ 85295, with 80 Databricks-certified engineers inside a team of 115+. We organise the Gilbert Databricks User Group, and we work with companies across Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa and Chandler, on site when it helps.

### What makes TechFabric an award-winning Databricks engineering team?

In September 2026, Prove It, a Genie-powered app built by one of our engineers, took second place in the Creativity & Originality track of the Databricks Community Genie-Powered App Challenge, which Databricks ran and judged. The results are posted on the Databricks Community site.

Prove It is a data-literacy app. For a company thinking about Genie, we'd start a Genie space by agreeing each metric's definition with whoever owns the number, then keep a benchmark set of questions the answers have to keep passing.

### What level of Databricks partner is TechFabric, and how should we compare Arizona firms?

TechFabric is a Databricks partner, and eighty of our engineers are Databricks-certified. The accelerators we bring are open source, so you can read them before you sign anything.

When you compare Valley firms, ask each one how many certified engineers it would put on your project, and for the names of the people who'd do the work. Those are the people you'll meet in the room in Gilbert or at your office.

### Can you move a Chandler manufacturer off Teradata or Synapse?

Yes. The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 147,500 manufacturing jobs in the Phoenix metro in September 2026 (preliminary), and plant data tends to sit in an old warehouse long after the rest of the company has moved on.

We'd run the move through TechFabric Airlift, which has executable playbooks for twenty-seven source platforms, signed migration certificates and a cutover you can reverse. Quality and process history keeps the grain it was recorded at, because a yield question two years out needs every reading. It starts with the two-week Migration Readiness Sprint, so the scope is written down before anyone picks a date.

### How would a Databricks engagement start for a Phoenix health system?

In the Phoenix-Mesa-Glendale metro, education and health services held 431,500 jobs in September 2026 (preliminary), by the count of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Behind those jobs is patient data, and HIPAA decides who may see it.

We'd usually start with the two-week Databricks Health Check at a fixed fee. It reads the workspace and returns a scorecard of what to fix first, and for a health system we'd look hardest at the Unity Catalog row filters and column masks that keep patient detail away from analysts who shouldn't see it. The scorecard is yours either way.
