# Databricks consulting in Orlando, FL

> Hospitality and theme parks at a scale no other metro reaches, the country's largest simulation and training cluster beside the university, a medical city growing at Lake Nona, and the Space Coast an hour east. If you run a resort, a training system or a hospital, a wrong answer from a model reaches a guest, a trainee or a patient.

## Why Orlando work is our work

Guest, booking and point-of-sale records sit in Oracle, SQL Server and vendor warehouses that disagree on who the customer is, and the cost climbs with every season. We migrate them onto a Databricks lakehouse governed by Unity Catalog, resolve identity once, and size compute to the season. The theme parks and resorts around Lake Buena Vista show it at full scale, and a Space Coast aerospace supplier or a homebuilder has its own mismatched records.

## Work a buyer here would recognise

A resort, ticketing or training business keeps guest or trainee records in several systems, each failing in its own way. Athlinks needed more than 400 million athlete records stitched together across disparate sources, and a serverless pipeline on Temporal gave the team automated retries and real-time visibility.

## The peak is the specification

Orlando's busiest weeks arrive together. When the parks around Lake Buena Vista fill at Christmas and spring break, a resort's booking traffic, its card transactions and the number of staff on handsets all climb at once. Every till, kiosk and mobile checkout added for the season widens PCI DSS scope too, and version 4's future-dated requirements have been mandatory since 31 March 2025.

## Questions

### Has Orlando got a Databricks community yet, or is it all online?

It has one now. The Orlando Databricks User Group is new, and its first event was a Databricks track at Day of Data Orlando in Sanford, on Spark and Unity Catalog. It's a good place for your engineers to meet others in Central Florida doing the same work.

Our own Databricks user group meets at our office in Gilbert, Arizona. Delivery is remote or hybrid, and we travel for discovery and the opening weeks of a build.

### Can we staff our Orlando Databricks team from UCF?

Partly. UCF says it's the largest university by enrollment in Florida, with 70,674 students in fall 2025, and we'd expect plenty of its graduates to write SQL and Python.

Its master's in data analytics runs evening and weekend classes for people who already work, which means an analyst on your Orlando team could take it alongside the job. What a degree won't give them is time on a production lakehouse, so we'd pair those hires with our engineers on the live pipelines and hand over once they've run an on-call week.

### How would Databricks help an Orlando hotel company plan staff against occupancy?

By forecasting labor from the bookings already on the books. Leisure and hospitality had 297.2 thousand jobs in the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metro in September 2026 (preliminary) by the Bureau of Labor Statistics count, about one job in five and more than any other sector. We'd expect reservations and schedules to sit with different vendors.

We'd bring both into Databricks, forecast hours by property, department and day, and refresh the forecast as bookings change, so a manager sets next week's rota from a number that traces back to the reservations.

### Can you build for a seasonal peak without paying for it all year?

Yes, and it is a design decision rather than a hosting one. Stateless services scale to the week and back, the durable workflow underneath keeps a reservation or a refund from half-completing under load, and the data platform bills by what runs. We test against the peak before it arrives, with a runbook for the day it does.

## What databricks consulting covers

### Migration off Snowflake, Synapse and Teradata

Run through TechFabric Airlift, with executable playbooks for twenty-seven source platforms, signed migration certificates, and a cutover you can reverse at two in the morning.

### Unity Catalog governance

Catalogue and schema design, a grant model expressed through groups, row filters and column masks, and lineage that survives a refactor. The boundary your agents and Power BI inherit.

### Lakeflow pipelines

Ingestion and Lakeflow jobs with schema evolution handled rather than hoped for, medallion boundaries drawn on purpose, and jobs that recover instead of restarting from zero.

### Databricks Apps and agents

Applications that run inside the workspace under their own service principal, and agents on Unity Gateway that inherit catalogue permissions instead of routing around them.

### Genie and AI/BI

Metric definitions agreed with the person who owns the number, and a benchmark suite Genie has to keep passing, so the answer holds up when finance checks it.

### Cost that somebody can defend

Cluster policies, warehouse sizing, file layout and the queries that actually pay. Instrumented at build time rather than discovered on an invoice.

## Working with us from Arizona

Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so we are two hours behind you from November to March and three hours behind from March to November. That leaves most of your afternoon overlapping our morning, which is usually enough.

Most delivery is remote or hybrid. We travel for discovery, workshops and the opening weeks of a build.
