# Databricks consulting in Dallas, TX

> Dallas and Fort Worth hold one of the densest headquarters concentrations in the country, weighted towards telecom, banking, insurance and the logistics that follow a central location. If you're one of them, you own a large estate already, and that estate decides which AI use cases will work.

## Why Dallas work is our work

Four acquisitions left you four warehouses on Teradata, Synapse and Snowflake, each with its own definition of a customer, and the business wants one number. We migrate them onto Databricks in waves, settle that definition once in Unity Catalog with lineage to its source system, and retire each old warehouse once its tables match. Headquarters in Las Colinas and Legacy West carry most of these estates, and so does a Fort Worth distributor.

## Work a buyer here would recognise

Orders processed rose 100% and accounts grew 29% after LOSExpress, SWBC's lending platform for credit unions, was rebuilt from the user experience and design system through to the front-end architecture. Loan officers spent half as long on each order, the measure a bank or insurer running a lending platform for many institutions would judge its own by.

## Every acquisition brought its own customer

Dallas-Fort Worth is where large companies put a headquarters, Toyota's North American one in Plano and McKesson's in Irving among them, and a headquarters estate is rarely one system. It's a decade of acquisitions and reorganisations, each bringing a CRM, a billing platform or a warehouse with its own idea of a customer. In our view the risk sits in the seams, where a failure is usually an integration failure under another name.

## Questions

### Is there a Databricks user group in Dallas?

Yes. The Databricks User Group Dallas meets roughly quarterly on weekday evenings, at venues around Dallas and Plano, with talks on implementation and new releases followed by networking. Our own Databricks user group meets at our office in Gilbert, Arizona.

We work remotely or hybrid and travel for discovery and workshops. For your estate that means we'd count the warehouses on site, with the people who own them in the room.

### Could a Dallas-area chain with thousands of stores run on Databricks?

That's the scale it's built for. 7-Eleven, based in Irving, says it operates, franchises or licenses more than 13,000 stores in the US and Canada, and we'd expect a chain that size to produce sales and inventory data around the clock.

We'd stream transactions into Delta tables, keep one governed product and store dimension in Unity Catalog, and run demand forecasts per store and item as scheduled jobs. Category managers then query one table instead of reconciling regional extracts.

### Can Databricks handle semiconductor test data for a Dallas chipmaker?

It can, and Dallas has the obvious example. Texas Instruments is headquartered in Dallas and says it makes tens of billions of chips a year. Wafer probe and the final test of packaged parts both throw off parametric data that engineers want to slice by lot and tool.

We'd land the tester output in Delta tables partitioned by lot and date, join it to the fab's equipment logs, and give yield engineers SQL and notebooks over the joined data. The first target would be spotting a drifting tool days before the weekly yield review does.

### We have systems from four acquisitions. Can you work with that?

That is most of what the work is. The first question is which system is allowed to write, because an estate with several answers to that is an estate that disagrees with itself. We would rather read what exists and tell you honestly what is worth keeping.

## What databricks consulting covers

### Migration off Snowflake, Synapse and Teradata

Run through TechFabric Airlift, with executable playbooks for twenty-seven source platforms, signed migration certificates, and a cutover you can reverse at two in the morning.

### Unity Catalog governance

Catalogue and schema design, a grant model expressed through groups, row filters and column masks, and lineage that survives a refactor. The boundary your agents and Power BI inherit.

### Lakeflow pipelines

Ingestion and Lakeflow jobs with schema evolution handled rather than hoped for, medallion boundaries drawn on purpose, and jobs that recover instead of restarting from zero.

### Databricks Apps and agents

Applications that run inside the workspace under their own service principal, and agents on Unity Gateway that inherit catalogue permissions instead of routing around them.

### Genie and AI/BI

Metric definitions agreed with the person who owns the number, and a benchmark suite Genie has to keep passing, so the answer holds up when finance checks it.

### Cost that somebody can defend

Cluster policies, warehouse sizing, file layout and the queries that actually pay. Instrumented at build time rather than discovered on an invoice.

## Working with us from Arizona

Arizona does not observe daylight saving, so we are one hour behind you from November to March and two hours behind from March to November. A morning standup on your clock is still early afternoon on ours.

Most delivery is remote or hybrid. We travel for discovery, workshops and the opening weeks of a build.
